The Public Security Directorate (PSD) said Wednesday that a man who was arrested a few days ago on narcotics charges, died Tuesday at hospital due to a pulmonary embolism.

The Anti-Narcotics Department was notified of two individuals who were in the possession of narcotics, and upon their attempts at escaping arrest, one of the accused fell and broke his foot. He was transferred to a hospital and later received further treatment in another hospital, said the PSD media spokesperson.

The spokesperson affirmed that the man remained in hospital and was never discharged or interrogated in a police station.

The spokesperson said that footage will be sent to the public prosecutor, confirming that the man was brought to hospital due to his leg injury.
